Hand of comfort. This piece, much like every other piece in this collection is heavily inspired by the Victorian era and their heavy mourning traditions and practices. So beautifully decorative and yet so stunning as a Spector from afar and later in time.

The Victorians obsession with dismembered hands comes up time and tome again in this still lingering from the past. From letter clips, to mourning jewelry, to even serve wear and candlesticks. Hands and their various meanings were seen all over the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

These hands were sculpted by me in clay then casted in fine pewter (lead free) then polished, blackened, and set to a luxe, high quality black vegan leather belt. Pewter was considered a fine metal in the 17th and 18th centuries and my research of the eras is what sparked a love and fascination with this metal.
